Two High Rolling Machine rely on two reverse rotating rollers to apply pressure to materials, completing processes such as metal sheet rolling, rubber mixing, polymer rolling, and lithium electrode sheet pressing. They are widely used in metallurgy, new materials, rubber plastics, new energy, laboratory research and development, and other fields. Rolling mills are heavy-duty precision equipment, and the parallelism, reduction, temperature, lubrication, and safety protection of the roll system directly affect the thickness accuracy of the finished product, the life of the rollers, and the personal safety of the operators. Many equipment failures and product defects are mostly caused by improper operation and lack of daily inspections. Mastering the key points of using a double roll rolling mill can reduce downtime failures, extend the service life of the entire machine, and ensure stable production output.
1、 Key points for pre startup inspection
Before formal feeding and rolling, a complete machine inspection must be completed, and direct feeding production is prohibited.
1. Roller system and roller gap inspection
Check the surface of the rolling mill to confirm that there are no cracks, pits, sticking materials, scratches or damages; Check the parallelism of the rolling mill rolls and ensure that the gap values on both sides are consistent to avoid the occurrence of thick and thin rolling materials on one side. When adjusting the gap between the rollers, both sides should be adjusted synchronously and evenly. It is forbidden to forcefully press down on one side to prevent deformation of the rollers under stress and damage to components.
2. Transmission and lubrication system confirmation
Check that the lubricating oil levels of bearings, gears, and reducers are sufficient, and that there are no blockages or leaks in the oil circuit; The fasteners, bolts, and pins are not loose. Insufficient lubrication can cause bearing overheating, abnormal noise, and shaft burning faults.
3. Cooling/Heating System Testing
Based on the processed materials, confirm that the cooling water circuit or heating circulation system is operating normally without any water leakage or blockage; Abnormal temperature of the rolling mill can directly cause poor plate shape, sticking of the roller, and thermal damage to the roller surface.
4. Verification of safety protection devices
All protective covers, safety interlocks, and emergency stop buttons are complete and effective, and unauthorized removal of shielded safety protection components is prohibited; Confirm that the emergency stop function can be triggered quickly.
5. No load trial operation
After completing all inspections, the equipment should run at low speed without load for 3-5 minutes, observe whether there is any abnormal noise or vibration, and whether the bearing temperature rise is normal. After confirming that there are no abnormalities, the material can be put into production.
2、 Precautions for operation during production and operation process
1. Reasonably control the amount of single compression
Do not set too much reduction at once. The first reduction should not be too large, and rolling should be done multiple times according to the material and thickness. If the compression exceeds the equipment's bearing range, it will cause roll bending, bearing overload, motor overload alarm, and seriously damage the overall structure of the machine.
2. Material feeding alignment to prevent deviation and slippage
The material needs to be fed into the gap between the rollers in the center and limited by the guide baffle to avoid unilateral force. When there is material deviation or slippage, the rolling speed should be appropriately reduced, the roll gap should be fine tuned, the oil and impurities on the roll surface should be cleaned, and forced pressing and hard rolling should be prohibited to prevent scratching the roll surface.
3. Monitor temperature changes
Continuously monitor the temperature of the rolling rolls and bearings during the rolling process. Friction generates heat that causes the rolling mill to expand, indirectly changing the actual gap between the rolls. It is necessary to make a small amount of roll gap compensation based on temperature changes; Check the cooling system in a timely manner when the temperature is too high to avoid thermal deformation of the rollers.
4. Strictly prohibit dangerous and illegal operations
When the equipment is in operation, hands and tools are strictly prohibited from entering the area where the rolling mill is interlocked; The cleaning of adhesive and debris on the roller surface must be stopped for processing. Operators should take good care of labor protection, store long hair in work hats, and restrain loose clothing to avoid getting caught up in rotating parts. Non professionals are prohibited from operating the equipment.
5. Real time observation of product and equipment status
Pay attention to the thickness and surface quality of the sheet metal during the production process, as well as equipment vibration, noise, and changes in oil pressure and current; Once there is abnormal noise, severe shaking, or abnormal temperature rise, the machine should be shut down for troubleshooting as soon as possible, and it is forbidden to continue production with the fault.
3、 Shutdown and shutdown operation specifications
1. After production is completed, lift the gap between the rollers and adjust the gap between the rollers to the appropriate opening. Do not store the rollers in a state of zero gap compression for a long time to prevent deformation caused by long-term stress.
2. After the equipment has completely stopped rotating, carry out the roller surface cleaning work, use soft cloth to clean the residual material on the roller surface, and prohibit hard tools from scratching the roller surface to avoid permanent scratches and damage to.
3. If the machine is idle for a long time, the roller surface should be wiped clean and rust prevention measures should be taken; The electronic control part should be dust-proof and moisture-proof, and electrical components should not be washed directly with water.
4. Equipment maintenance must cut off the main power supply, perform power-off tagging, and prevent safety accidents caused by accidental startup.
4、 Key points of daily maintenance and upkeep
1. Regular lubrication and maintenance
Strictly follow the equipment manual cycle to add corresponding lubricating grease to bearings, gears, and transmission mechanisms to prevent wear and damage caused by oil shortage. This is the most critical step in extending the service life of the rolling mill.
2. Regularly verify the parallelism and gap accuracy of the rolling mill rolls
After prolonged use, the roller system may experience offset. Regularly check the gaps between the rollers on both sides and calibrate them in a timely manner to ensure uniform and stable thickness of the finished product.
3. Roller protection
The rolling mill is a high-value core component, which avoids the impact of hard objects and the direct crushing of material impurities on the rolling surface; Promptly address any damage to the roller surface to prevent defects from replicating to every product.
4. Hydraulic and electrical system inspection
Regularly check the hydraulic oil level and whether there is any leakage in hydraulic models; Regularly inspect electrical circuits and keep the control cabinet dry and ventilated.
5. Establish equipment operation records, recording the duration of operation, faults, and maintenance time, to facilitate later fault tracing.
